| CORNELIA MAKES HER PUBLIC PROFESSION OF VOWS (POVERTY AND OBEDIENCE) at the Trinita de Monte in Rome, 1847. At this time she also renewed her vow of chastity that she had made previously. This was witnessed by Bishop Wiseman who at the same time appointed Cornelia superior and novice director of this new congregation that she had founded. At the time the Roman Catholic Church celebrated the feast of St. Thomas the apostle on December 21st. For this reason Cornelia took this day as her feast day to celebrate the day she made her formal vows in the Church. In the 1960s the feast of St. Thomas was changed to July 3rd.
